Compliments

A project based on the idea that we tend to revel in the bad and not the good (ie. the media often covers bad news, criticism, moaning and ignores positive stories)

I produced a single letter for each person I know. The letter listed sincerly the good things about that person. None of the letters said who they were from (suprisingly, they are being used and hanging up inm may peoples' homes)

Reaction from someone who received one:
"O.k well it will be difficult to recreate the original reaction so i wont even try, but it really got me, it was completely unexpected and i found it very touching, it is something that i will treasure. I have it stuck on my wall but i may take it down soon as it is becoming a bit of an ego feed which i think goes against the initial nature of the gesture. One important factor in the success for me was it had the potential to be vulgar and crass, but you managed to make it sound very genuine, which i think was also down to the surprise nature. As it was totally unprompted. It was just so moving to think that someone had actually taken the time completely independant of me to form those sorts of opinions about me and then take the time to let me know. I genuinly did not know what to do with myself. So as i said i think the context it was recieved in and the nature of my relationship to who had sent it is what made it so successful for me."
